Road Trip + KL Chinatown+ Changman
So last Monday I met Cong Han for lunch after not meeting for such a ridiculously long time and then we had this crazy impromptu plan to head over to Malaysia for a short get-a-way and just two days later, we've got everything planned out and got ourselves to the causeway, crossing over to Malaysia. *woohoo long car rides** So we drove in at around 10pm and it took us around 4-5 hours to drive to Awana Condominium although we did stop by KFC for a little supper. So the next day we woke up late and headed by to KLCC for some lunch. It's pretty expensive and not that amazing so I'm not going to talk much about it. First up: Old Style Burger We decided to try the Old Style Chicken Floss & Dried Meat Burger (Since it's the biggest one there hahaha) Bah kwa + Chicken floss + Chilli sauce. I think it's pretty good but Cong Han think it's not that fantastic. Next up, the famous Luo Han Guo Long Gan Rock Sugar drink. Yum yum so good and refreshing! Mua Chee next! The interesting thing is that there are different colors and flavors. Pandan Mua Chee for me! I think it's yummy cause it's chewy and it doesn't stick to your teeth. And for dinner we have claypot rice from Hong Kee Claypot Chicken Rice (鸿记驰名瓦煲鸡饭). Which is pretty yummy! So while driving back to our apartment, that view. Then we drove up to Genting Highlands. There isn't much to do and so we eventually went to chill (and use some wifi) at The Coffee Bean. My ever obsession with The Coffee Bean's Chicago Cheesecake & Hazelnut Latte. The only thing I love about Genting is the weather and view. I'll never get enough. Very quickly the trip comes to an end so just before we head back to Singapore, we stopped by Johor Bahru for some lunch and we headed to this Dim Sum place which Cong Han was raving about. 常满 Restaurant Changman 24G Jalan Bestari 5/2 Taman Nusa Bestari 81300 Skudai Johor Bahru, Malaysia Barbecue Pork Buns. It's so good! Perfectly flavored and the meat is chuncky which I love. OHH SOO GOOD. Guo Tie (Dumplings) it's tasty and the filling is so goood! Xiao Long Bao, The soup is so delicious and skin is thin, yummy! Yam Pau. I love yam but this honestly is quite disappointing compared to the other dimsum. It's not bad, but not that fantastic. My favorite Green Tea Liu Sa Pau. That flowy, salted filling. Just look at that! Har Kao. Pretty decent I think. This is the scallop roe thing which was fancy but I don't really love it so ya. Siew Mai. Pretty nice ones with juicy prawn. (P/s. stupid Cong Han ate one before I even took a picture of it) Then lunch round two! At Very OK Restaurant nearby. Har Kao again. Not as good as the previous one. Fried Dumpling. A little too oily for me but it's actually pretty good. This the bomb! Bread + Prawn + Pork/Chicken Floss. I don't know how to describe this but it's basically a party in the mouth. MUST TRY WHEN YOU ARE THERE. It was a great trip and over stuffing myself with food, I love long car rides (but I hate traffic jam) but unfortunately I stay in Singapore so it's kind of rare considering driving from one end to the other end only take an hour or so. Can't wait for another road trip soon! Labels: Asian, Chinese, Dinner, Genting Highlands, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Lunch, Malaysia, Travel Tweet |
