Step into the cafe and you'll find yourself welcomed by the aroma of fresh coffee. Located just beside the much hyped Sunday Folks that I see many of my friends going lately and being just a walking distance away from Holland Village MRT Station is this less raved about cafe but welcoming nonetheless.

Greeting us is a large variety of pastries.

And I've got my eye fixed on the cakes!

In case you are wondering. Here's a price list of the coffee.

Lemon Passion Fruit Cheese Cake ($5): I love this. The slight sourness from the lemon & passion fruit blends perfectly with the cheese cakes which makes it not too sick. However I feel the base is a little too average.

Chocolate Lamington ($5): I'll admit I thought this was some Malay kueh at first okay. It's kind of like a chocolate sponge cake (that is not that spongey) coated with coconut. I don't quite like it on first bite but I kind of grow into it.

Caramel Brownie ($5): I kind of think this would be so much better hot. A little hard to stab my fork into. But I like how chocolatey it is and the top layer of caramel. You can probably get them to put it in the oven for you. That's like my only regret.

Lemon Tart ($5): In love with all things sour lately. Their tart base is good with a perfect ratio of sweet and sour. The only complain I have is it's too small!

My Large Double Shot Latte. I'll say good coffee. Toasted but not burnt. Strong but not overwhelming.

And the coffee on the far left is Dean's Macchiato and beside it is Janette's regular sized Double Shot Latte. Served with some really good brownie. Dense, chocolatey and not too sweet.

Out with the food and in with the selfies!

Yep. So all in all I think this is a perfect place to chill and hang out. I would love to visit this cafe again. (Provided they don't get all busy and flooded suddenly) One of my favorite cafes so far!

Located in a corner of the newly opened Westgate is this Korean Fusion Bar that I've been wanting to try since I saw Mavis' posting about her visit on her instagram a few week back. Since I'm back, I decided to meet with her and head to this place for some drinks and chill.

Pretty lights and it's relatively empty. I'm guess that it's because it's a Monday evening.

Screw Driver Pop: Run with orange popsicle.
The popsicle melted relatively quickly (which I totally blamed the weather for) but I think it's pretty good.

Red Winter: Soju, mint leaves, lemon, watermelon.

I absolutely love this drink. Lightly fragrant and not too sweet, just as I like it.

Raspberry Soju Tini: Soju, lemon juice, raspberries.

I think this is pretty good too but it's a little too sweet for me.

Kimchi Cheese Fries: Fries tossed in kimchi, nacho cheese sauce, scallions.

A pretty special combo but it's quite good too. But I personally don't feel that the flavours fused together that much but quite nice nonetheless.

Yeah, so I think this is a good place to slack, chill and hangout especially since it's not busy and they have a pretty good ambience (some music would be better too). We sat at the outdoor seating and it's still relatively cooling that day. However they need to work on the service like how they forgot to give us forks and paper towels for our fries and how using the Samsung tablet to order still requires staff authorization and I would have to personally walk to one of the staff or keep trying to get a staff's attention (we're the only ones seating outside so there isn't a staff nearby most of the time). Good place nonetheless.

And the girl that I was there for. Haven't seen her in a long long long time!

Also located in The Rail Mall similar to the previous post is Sugalight which is a sugarfree and low fat ice cream that I have wanted to try for a long time. It's a very small outlet which is barely any seating space but who would reject guilt free ice cream right?

Taking up majority of the space is this ice cream chiller. With the ice cream with blue tags being the premium flavors. I will admit that it's really not a very vast selection of flavors.

That's all for their menu. I would say that their ice cream is decently priced or cheaper than many ice cream parlor out there.

I tried a single scoop of Italian Hazelnut. It's really creamy and have a relatively strong milk taste. I'll admit it's not as good as full-force-guilt-tripping-sugar-packed ice cream but it's really good considering that it's not bad for you. Would definitely try other flavors if given the chance.

Teck Kee Chicken Rice

So some two weeks ago I was taking my TOEFL iBT in St. Francis Methodist School and my loving parents were there to drive me to and fro the test location. Since my test ended around lunch time, we decided to drop by The Rail Mall (which is just a short drive away) for some food. Mummy then decided to dine at the most crowded food place there (you know, the "when there is crowd, there is good food" mindset), which just so happen to be this chicken rice place.

The Roast Chicken which is apparently a 3 person serving. I would say, they are not very generous with their servings.

Sambal Kang Kong. Nothing special really.

I was in the mood for some congee that day so here is my Shreded Chicken and Century Egg Porridge.

Some sweet sauce pork rib recommended by the staff. I can't quite remember the actual name. It was pretty good except most of the ribs are pretty tough to chew on.

I would say that this is a place to have a relatively decent meal with okay-okay food. Just that it's not a place that I would go out of the way to have a meal in or crave for. Besides, The Rail Mall is pretty inaccessible without a car (any where that is not directly walk-able from a train station is generally inaccessible to me). Not the best food around but it's not bad, really.

Also, would like to thank my parents for the meal and chauffeuring me around that day.

The Rotisserie is apparently a casual western food place that serves pretty affordable meal as recommended by Dean. So here we are to give it a go.

It is located inside Rochester Mall which is a walk-able distance from Buona Vista MRT Station.

So here's a sneaking picture of the menu cause no photography allowed. Never understood places that disallowed photography. I mean, is the out look of your food copyrighted or that you have something to hide or something. Ok, too much ranting.

There are 5 types of salad you can choose from and I was given 2 for my meal. This is the part the staff goes like "Sorry madam, no photography allowed".

Here's my Quarter Chicken meal with Pasta Salad and Potato Salad. I don't know why my chicken has no gravy while Dean's does. So this meal cost me $12,

and I added a $6 cup of Hazelnut Mocha.

So honestly speaking, I have had better western food. But $12 for such big serving is pretty value for money. It's definitely not that kind of hustling and bustling restaurants that you will feel pressured to finish your food quickly but rather it's much like a cafe where things goes slow. I would say that my cup of Hazelnut Mocha is pretty decent and I would much rather consider this place a cafe than a restaurant.

Besides that, I had a great day hanging out and catching up with Janette and Dean after so long. Can't wait to meet them again soon.
